STAMINA Human Factors Training
Since 1 June 2001 Certifying Staff must be familiarised with human factors through education (Part -66) or continuation training (Part -145). In amendment 5 of JAR-145 (now EASA Part 145) this requirement has been extended to cover almost all employees of Part -145 approved maintenance organisations. This makes human factors an essential issue in aviation maintenance today. It is regarded as an important means to further improve aviation safety.
The
STAMINA training focuses on human factors
in aviation maintenance. It provides both core human factors training material
aimed at maintenance technicians and engineers and additional material specially
developed for supervisors, trainers and management. STAMINA covers the
subjects required by Part 145 and
Part 66.
The training has a strong interactive character. Using video's, games and guided group discussions knowledge as well as awareness competence and attitude are addressed. Furthermore means of personal or organisational improvement are provided.
The STAMINA training has been developed within the framework of the Leonardo da Vinci programme of the European Union by an international consortium with: Trinity College Dublin, Dutch National Aerospace Laboratory (NLR), FLS Aerospace and SAS.
The partners in the development consortium want to make the STAMINA training available to the industry. However in such a way that the material is used integrally and the principles of STAMINA are safeguarded. For this reason the training material is only provided to highly competent and qualified trainers. A special STAMINA trainers course has been developed for this purpose. Roger van der Velden of Jargon Aviation Consultancy has completed this training at Trinity College in Dublin and is the first independent qualified STAMINA trainer. Jargon Aviation Consultancy now brings the STAMINA training to the aviation maintenance industry.
The STAMINA training is available as open entry or in-company training either in Dutch or English. The modular structure of STAMINA makes it possible to adapt the training to the specific wishes and situation of the client Depending on the size of the company, the present knowledge, possible known problem areas and the level of the participants (mechanics or managers). For small companies Jargon provides the possibility for joint training of staff.
As requested Jargon will provide a detailed proposal.
In 2006 the STAMINA training material was completely revised and updated to the latest developments by Jargon Aviation Consultancy in collaboraton with Kratis Training & Consulting of Cyprus.
